“Oculomotor analysis to assess brain health: preliminary findings from a longitudinal study of multiple sclerosis using novel tablet-based eye-tracking software.”

Étienne de Villers-Sidani, et al. – McGill University.

This study reports preliminary data on a new clinical assessment tool, where patients perform a variety of oculomotor tasks using an iPad Pro. Performance on these tasks correlates well with traditional metrics that require a more extensive battery of tests, and the usage of an iPad is a vast improvement over traditional eye-tracking tests that require the use of infrared cameras. Follow-up studies using larger samples and independent cohorts to validate their predictive models will provide further insight into how useful this tool may be in the clinic.
